August 11, 2001 - The 2001 Ohio All-Stars visit to USA Everett is now history and it was a great day. The match started at 1:00 pm and went until about 6:00 pm. By that time we were down to a few diehards as a number of the Washington wrestlers had to leave for various reasons. The Ohio kids got anywhere from one to three matches each that day as we wrestled three rounds. I was surprised to see how many people came to the room to watch the matches, especially considering what a beautiful day it was outside. I even saw that my son's soccer coach came to watch and we haven't even seen him since last season! The matches are not set using official age and weight groups. We simply matched up as close as we could with age and weight and a few matches where as much as 10-15 pounds either way with the bigger kids. There is no official score kept on the match but we did track individual results and the number of bouts won by either side. They can be viewed below. Bout results per round were as follows:
I would like to thank all of those who came to the match to wrestle and especially those that helped run the meet. Our refs were regular USAW officials. We had Brian Garvie, Mike Janicki and Keith Kubec handle the officiating. Ron Lampers and Joe Kubec were running the scoring table and timing was done by Stan O'Neil and Gary Zweifel. Coach Boyd and Andy were there most of the day to help coach the kids. Special thanks goes out to Bart, the Ohio director for choosing to again come to Everett for the dual. We hope you enjoyed your stay. If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. |
