Coach Boyd wins the Washington State Pankration 200 lb division title on October 26, 2002. Boyd vs. Hall was the main event of the fight card at Edmonds Community College gymnasium which also included about 8 preliminary bouts and one other state title bout. John Hall, the defending champ, had a dangerous high kick but Boyd adeptly avoided it and the defending champ could not match the grappling skills of Boyd. Boyd had him on the ground most of the first four rounds and really pummeled him. Hall's corner threw in the towel before the start of the 5th round giving Boyd the victory by TKO. |
