PREP ROUNDUP — Carbajal wins title at Davis wrestling tourney
YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

Davis' Ivan Carbajal defeated Eisenhower's J.R. Galindo 12-7 in the 101-pound championship to earn the lone title for the hosts Saturday at the Davis Invite wrestling tournament.

Prosser's Moises Marquez (119) and Ivan Merino (171) were the only other Yakima Valley wrestlers to win titles.

Eisenhower's Benji Martin (171) and Nick Garcia (130) earned second-place trophies.

Chehalis won eight weight classes and had top-four finishes in 13 of the 14 weight classes.

TOPPENISH THIRD AT WEST VALLEY INVITE: At West Valley Junior High, Toppenish's J.J. Garza took first at 101 pounds and the Wildcats got a pair of second-place finishes to take third, the highest placing for a Yakima Valley team.

Ephrata won the team title.

Individual titles by Pat Barnick (189) and Josh Campbell (215) led the host Rams to fourth place.

Kellen Hopkins (112), Scott Thompson (125) and Kameron Hopkins (130) all won their weight classes to help East Valley take fifth.

Mabton's Robert Marquez was first at 275.
