GRANDVIEW — Four champions led the title-winning home team and West Valley's Mark Lagerquist was named the most outstanding wrestler in Saturday's ninth annual Grandview Winter Classic.

With victories from Fernando Godinez (130), Jacob Robillard (160), Tovias Magana (171) and Rigo Rodriguez (189) — and five other championship finalists — the Greyhounds rolled up 186 points to best runner-up Foss of Tacoma by 29 points.

Eddie Pedroza's title at 103 pounds helped the Mustangs finish fourth in the eight-team tourney.

West Valley got wins from Lagerquist, who registered a 17-7 major decision in the 152 final, and Deven Stelter-Moorman (112).

Team scores: Grandview 186, Foss 157, Quincy 152.5, Prosser 118, West Valley-Yakima 108, Connell 75, Kennewick 45.5, Kiona-Benton 29.

WAPATO INVITATIONAL: At Wapato, winning titles in the final four weight classes, Ellensburg powered away with the team title by 62 points over runner-up Ephrata.

Zach Haberman (171), Luke Yarwood (189), Tyler Weyand (215) and Brock Schober (275) all earned titles for the Bulldogs, who had 13 top-four placers.

Carlos Torres' title at 119 helped Selah finish third in the eight-team field. Fourth-place Toppenish had two winners — unbeaten J.J. Garza at 103 and Yuder Pech at 130.

RANGER NEW YEAR CLASSIC: At Naches, powered by their strength in the upper weights, the Cle Elum Warriors amassed 157 points to capture the team title in the 13-team tourney.

Matt McKenzie and Cody Vandeventer won at 189 and 215 pounds, respectively, for the Warriors, and teammate Marshall Allenbaugh was the heavyweight runner-up.

Goldendale was second with 1211/2 points, getting victories from Jeremy Wolfe (103) and Artuo Sauceda (140).

East Valley's Kellen Hopkins remained unbeaten with an impressive second-round pin against Cle Elum's Neal Ward.
