North Kitsap wrestlers closed out 2005 in style. The Vikings won four individual
titles and advanced five others to the finals of the North Mason Classic on
Friday.
It was more than enough to win team honors in the 10-team tournament. The
Vikings finished with 303.5 points. Host North Mason was second (176).
"Our varsity guys did well and our jayvee guys knocked out some of the other
teams varsity guys," said NK coach Jon Cooke. "All our team contributed. We were
happy."
NK senior Matt Grimes, the 130-pound champion, was named tournament MVP. Grimes
advanced to state as a sophomore, but was injured a year ago.
Other NK champs: Matt Cordell (140), Paul Coulter (145) and Danny Glushko (215).
