Outcome disputed in HHS-Kelso meet

Kelsey Klein, Dallas Wagner, and Marissa Aube each scored pins for Hoquiam but
the Grizzlies fell to Kelso, 31-27, in a girls wrestling dual meet Wednesday at
Hoquiam Square Garden.
The outcome is in dispute. Hoquiam coaches believe the Grizzlies won, 33-31, but
that included an exhibition result. To compound the confusion, the Hilanders had
only six wrestlers, resulting in some girls wrestling twice to complete the
meet.
"Our girls wrestled hard; we knew going in that Kelso would make it a tough
match," said Hoquiam coach Isa Neilsen.
Klein and Wagner each had first-round pins. Alyssa Lee and Lexi Taylor scored
decision wins for Hoquiam.
In an exhibition match, Hoquiam's Alex White pinned Aberdeen's Kelsie Lyles.
The Grizzlies travel to Moses Lake for a tournament Friday.

Grizzly girls pin down Trojans

FIFE - Kelsey Sund and Kylie Wilson each won two matches as Hoquiam dominated
host Fife, 57-6, in a girls wrestling dual meet on Tuesday.
The Grizzlies won nine of the 10 matches contested officially, eight of them by
pin.
"The girls wrestled really strong, it was impressive," HHS assistant coach Wes
Cormier said.
"We expected to wrestle hard and they did it."
At 112 pounds, Sund pinned Alina Ginchak and Amber Augustino for her two wins,
while Wilson won her two matches by pins early in the first period each.
Marissa Aube, Katrina Johnson and Alicia Garcia were credited with wins by pin
in their exhibition matches.
Today, Hoquiam will host Kelso in a girls dual meet at 6 p.m.
