OREGON CITY, Ore. -- Heinrich Barnes
(141) pounds and Kyle Sand (184) won championships for North Idaho College
at the Clackamas Open wrestling tournament on Saturday.
Both went 4-0. Barnes defeated Bo
Gregson from Simon Fraser 8-4 in the championship match. Sand beat Brad
Padgett of Highline by injury default.
Coby Jones (149), Lucas Chesher
(157) and Evan Mattingly (197) placed second. Jones lost 7-0 to Matt Graves
of Oregon in the title match. Chesher lost 8-5 to Jimmy Ulrey from Southern
Oregon. Mattingly lost 4-2 to Abe Ewing of Southern Oregon.
Kevin Mitchell (141), Brad Rasmussen
(149) and Brett Owen (174) each placed third. Mitchell beat Jesse Arenett of
Simon Fraser 11-8 for third and fourth. Rasmussen downed Bo Icalia (Southern
Oregon) 5-4, and Owen beat Ben Harris (Oregon State) 3-2.
Lee Morrison (157) was fourth, losing 8-3 to Brrian Cantrel (Oregon) 8-3 in
the third-place match.
Travis Temple (125) went 2-2,
Brandon Palaniuk (133) 2-2, Ionica Hanson (141) 2-2, Kaine Zetterberg (141)
1-2, Dustin Fowler (157) 1-2, Dino May (165) 1-1 (injury default), Wilson
