Davis wins six titles, team crown December 7, 2008 by YH-R Sports Leave a Comment YAKIMA The host Pirates dominated the lower divisions, getting six champions between 103 and 140 pounds, to capture the eight-team Davis Invitational.
Davis wrestlers Alexio Garcia (103), Cortney Nalley (112), Jorge Cardenes (119), Zach Nalley (125), Nick Saucedo (135) and Tony Yocum (140) each took their weight classes, with Garcia and Nalley each scoring first-period pins.
Eisenhower, which placed fourth, had second-placers in Jorge Cardenes (119) and Matt Voelker (160).

Toppenish dominates tourney
Toppenish wrestlers won five weight classes, including victories in the three smallest divisions, to pull away from Pasco and Ephrata in the eight-team West Valley Invitational. Armondo Hernandez (103), Julian Romero (119) and Miguel Montiel (140) all won by pin for the Wildcats, while Ricardo Ayala won a wild one at 189, defeating West Valleys Dylan Foster by technical fall, 25-10. The host Rams lone champion came at 285 pounds, where Brad Overand took just 1:19 to pin his Fife opponent.

Davis pins Lions early December 5, 2008 by YH-R Sports Leave a Comment YAKIMA With four pins in the first seven matches, Davis flew out to a big lead and held on for a 42-34 victory over Kennewick in a CBBN Columbia Division wrestling match Thursday at Davis Gym.
The Lions pulled within 36-24 with three matches left but Davis Antonio Gonzalez clinched the win with a pin at 189 pounds.
In the Cascade Division, Brad Overands fall at 285 pounds locked up West Valleys 41-35 win at Walla Walla.

Davis, WV shine at Ike Takedown December 3, 2008 by YH-R Sports Leave a Comment YAKIMA Davis and West Valley had three champions apiece in Eisenhowers annual 10-team takedown tournament Tuesday night at Ike Gym.
Zillah, Toppenish and Sunnyside had two winners each in a tournament that ranked wrestlers based on total takedowns.
The wrestling season gets underway for keeps on Thursday with a full round of CBBN matches.
