July 30, 2026 – This is an update as to the future of this website. I have had rankings on this site done by various individuals that have done a tremendous job over the years. The last few years some of my most loyal rankers have gotten a little busy with other activities, myself included. As there are now other sources available that do rankings, there’s no specific reason for me to duplicate those on my page, and many of you noticed that last year half of the rankings were from the WWN and the other half were from my rankers. This year I plan on strictly using the WWN’s ranking and let my volunteers off the hook. I am glad WWN is around doing their rankings and podcasts and hope the wrestling community will support them over the years.
There are also a number of wrestling Facebook pages that have cropped up, specifically for Washington, and those are being used by a number of people. The need for the forum has diminished, but I will be leaving it open over the next year or so as a posting place to help high school coaches post about tournaments. Many of them use that to help get their schedules set for the year. That has been very productive in the past and I noticed today that Coach Ottow made a post that requested the coaches use the message board for that particular purpose. I will see how that goes to decide on the disposition of the message board after the 2026-27 high school wrestling season. At this point the cost of running the website is coming out of my pocket, instead of being advertising supported, as it had been for many years. I will cover this year but after that it will depend on the support the community wants to do from a donation standpoint. We’ll just have to see what happens.
Over the next month or two I will most likely be trying to update the underlying WordPress technology of the web site to fit more current standards. The WordPress Theme I use on the website was installed in 2012 and the company that produced that theme is no longer around, and it is no longer updated to the newer standards. I will be forced to change to a new theme and we’ll just have to see how that works. Hopefully it doesn’t break the entire website as it has around 14 Gigabytes of history on it. Once I get that new theme in place, I should be able to update the PHP to the most current standards for security purposes. Wish me luck on this as I don’t know what will happen I make that attempt to upgrade.
After 30 years with the website, it’s once more into the fray…
08/26/25 – Just starting to put together a few things to prepare for the 2025-26 season. It is very early yet but Marshall Cox has been working on getting the schedule updated for 2025-26 and I just updated the links. Stay tuned as things start to progress over the fall pre-season preparation.

Links to WIAA info on Districts and Classifications are just below. I hope this info will help in seeing how the post-season will be happening this year. For information on District make up Click Here and for a list of teams in the different classification Click Here.
To see quick update of which rankings have been updated simply go to the “Categories” drop down arrow in the upper right hand of the screen right over the ads on the right. Click the arrow and chose “Rankings” and it will lists ALL the rankings by most recent date. Try it and let me know what you think on the message board.
Hard to believe but it seems that not everyone in wrestling is aware of this site and the effort we make as a group to get the information in one central location for all the wrestling fans to see. We need folks to write down my email address (washingtonwrestlingreport@gmail.com)
