It in now the end of a long, and dramatic season, with lots of changes in the post-season this year compared to past years. For 2024-25, there were no regionals and twice the number of wrestlers moved on directly from district events into a state bracket. Some divisions wrestled on Thursday and Friday while others overlapped and wrestled on Friday and Saturday. It went pretty late on Friday and I believe the final match started around 11:00 PM, and some teams didn’t even get home until early the next morning. I’m sure they’ll make some revisions for next year but I did hear a lot of good feedback about the changes and they just need to iron out some kinks.
We have updated the rankings to reflect the results from the Mac Classic in several divisions . We updated the Girls All-Class division , including team scores, to show what happened in all the divisions at the Mat Classic for girls. The 1A Boy’s division also has updated rankings reflecting the final standings at the Mac Classic and also expanding down into 12 placings with team scores. The same thing was done in the B Division . It’s been a tough year with some of the rankings due to personal issues that some people have had. We did not have an All-Class in boys this year and 3A and 4A Boys ended up having their last ranking in early February. In the 2A Division, the ranker had his last ranking in early February. We hope all this is just an aberration for this year and we will work on seeing exactly where we stand with rankers for next year. It is generally a often thankless job but I want to express my appreciation to the rankers and let them know that many people look forward to seeing the results of their labors.
After the Mat Classic this year the controlled chaos continued with the WSWA State Folkstyle Championship tournament which took place in the Tacoma Dome on the exact same mats, the next day. I was down there for that day watching my grandchildren compete and saw some really good wrestling across the board. It was a very long weekend for a lot of the coaches that were at the Mat Classic and also the WSWA event. I know my son took his high school team down there on Wednesday , didn’t get home until early Saturday morning , got some sleep and then we headed back down to Tacoma for the WSWA weigh in on Saturday, and then the tournament all day Sunday. That makes for a long week for a lot of the coaches and teams that go to this so thank them all for their efforts. I’m sure they’re getting a well deserved break now.
I do hope that everyone enjoyed the website this year, even though we had some hiccups with some of the rankings. You can find all the Mat Classic results at This Link. The upcoming freestyle season is something I would encourage all serious wrestlers to consider competing in as a way to improve their skill set. When I look back at the website, I see that the first results I posted were from the freestyle season state tournament results in 1996. I will see about probably posting some of those this spring which will make this the 30th year since I started this website. It has been a lot of work over the years but it has been a passion of mine. As things start to wind down in my web and officiating career, I will be reassessing each year as to what services and information are needed that are not found elsewhere. I’ve always done this web site because there was a need for it that was not being filled elsewhere. There are various arenas available now that were non-existent when I started this Internet journey. Glad to see there are alternate sources of information out there and that dictates what our efforts will be in the future.
Best wishes to everyone and we will see you later this spring.

Girl’s 2024-25 Season Schedule
Brackets are located on the High School Page. The Rankings Page link is at the top of this page along with a link to the High School Page for 2023-24. Remember to have tournament directors email the completed brackets of their tournaments to be posted on the site and to be reviewed for ranking changes. Also remember to email any input on rankings to me at Info@Washingtonwrestlingreport.net so I can analyze them and then forward them to all the pertinent rankers for review on a class by class basis.
Once the high school season gets underway the brackets and rankings will being updated regularly. As always, feel free to comment on the rankings on the message board as the rankers do read those and use the information in addition to what they are able to review from the data on the WWR web site.
To see quick update of which rankings have been updated simply go to the “Categories” drop down arrow in the upper right hand of the screen right over the ads on the right. Click the arrow and chose “Rankings” and it will lists ALL the rankings by most recent date. Try it and let me know what you think on the message board.
Hard to believe but it seems that not everyone in wrestling is aware of this site and the effort we make as a group to get the information in one central location for all the wrestling fans to see. We need folks to write down my email address (info@washingtonwrestlingreport.net) and make sure they hand it to the tournament directors at ALL tournaments and ask them to email the completed brackets to us for posting. The more people we have talking to the administrators that have the data, the more results we will see on the site. Keep the requests going so we can all see what’s happening!
